Pooja Nansi is Singapore's first Youth Poet Ambassador. In 2016, she was a recipient of the Young Artist Award, Singapore's highest accolade for arts practitioners below the age of 35.



Her work has been described as "unflinching, lyrical and quietly honest".

 

She is the author of 2 collections of poetry and the co-author of a teacher's resource for using Singaporean poetry in the classroom. She was also the NAC-NTU Writer in Residence for the 2015/2016 academic year.

From 2013-2018 Pooja curated a monthly spoken word and poetry showcase called Speakeasy which played to packed audiences.



Her key performance work involves her one-woman show You Are Here, which was performed as part of Esplanade's The Studios series, Esplanade's 2016 Kalaa Utsavam – Indian Festival of Arts, and the Queensland Poetry Festival. Her collaboration with Australian playwright Jessica Bellamy and Checkpoint Theatre, Thick Beats for Good Girls, was staged in April 2018 and explores the intersections between feminism, ethnicity and Hip Hop.
